Propagation Methods for Specialized vegetative structures

Separation: Type of clonal propagation
that utilizes detachable structures on the
plant as propagules. E.g. Bulbs and corms


Division: Type of clonal propagation that
involves cutting or dividing the plant/plant
structure into sections. E.g. Rhizome,
stem tuber, tuberous root.



Bulbs
 Specialized underground storage structure
that consists of a short, fleshy stem axis
(basal plate) and roots or root primordial,
axillary buds, and flower apices enclosed
in thickened fleshy scales.

 Bulb scale: the expanded fleshy leaf base of a
bulb that contain stored food.

 Bulblet: a small bulb that forms in the axil of
a bulb scale grows to full size offsets. Can be
underground or aerial bulblets bulbils.
