This magnificent tree was a major source of
timber for building boats in past centuries. Its flowers provide the nectar for
the finest pale yellow Omani honey. Its Nabak fruits formerly sold in
suq and eaten by people. The sidr masaydrani is a variety of the same species. Its most important to honey
bees, flowers and fruits several weeks earlier, increasing the availability of
nectar and, therefore, the overall honey production of the bees.
Best grown from seeds. The seeds should be
bruised with a hammer to make germination easier. Once germinated and have
reached about 5 cm height, they should be transplanted to their permanent
position.
